Richard Rood
Hello, I’m Richard Rood though, those who know me call me Dick. I had the privilege of serving our country towards the tail end of the Korean War. Shortly there after I married my wife Darlene. For 10 years I worked for an air conditioning company after which myself and 4 others started a mechanical contracting company based out of Santa Clara, CA. Over the years, I purchased the other 4 shares in the company and have been the sole owner for 53 years. In 1985, we bought the property for and in 1999 built our retirement home in Swansboro, CA.
In 2006, I was able to fulfill a long term dream and built Mosquito Creek Outfitters in Placerville. Through our clients I found there was a need for somewhere they could practice shooting sports and in 2018, after I had “retired”, Hangtown Range was born. Located in what had been an abandoned tire store on Broadway, we began renovation on what you see today. We have greatly enjoyed living in the Placerville area and continue to look forward to engaging with our community every chance we get in our busy “retirement”. Thank you for being the best part of our range.
Jenna Lute
Hi. I’m Jenna, the lead firearms instructor at Hangtown Range.
I am a POST certified Basic Academy Instructor & Firearms Instructor, a DOJ CCW & Firearms Instructor, and a BSIS Firearms Instructor.
None of which actually prepared me to confidently offer group or private instruction. It was the many years I spent teaching K-4th grade that allows me the insight and communication skills to help individuals reach their training goals.
If you are new to shooting or just need an experienced eye to correct a bad habit, I’m happy to help. But be warned, my enthusiasm for the subject matter is contagious.
Mike Vallerga
Hello, I’m Mike, I moved to the Placerville area with my beautiful bride after retiring from a 27 year career in law enforcement. I was proud to begin my career by serving our country for 8 years as a Marine infantryman and later a Regimental Training NCO.
Following my service in the military, I worked for the Alameda County Sheriff’s Department and then made the transition into the position of a Police Lieutenant/Dispatch-Records Manager with NASA law enforcement.
I was able to finish my career working for the Richmond P.D., where I wore many hats ranging from Patrol Officer, to K9 Handler, to Basic Firearms Instructor/Rifle Instructor.
I enjoy once again serving my community by being part of the range and giving our clients and staff the benefit of my many years of experience. Thank you for your continued support.
